A new waste transfer station was constructed at the Silent Valley Waste site in Cwm, Ebbw Vale. The construction of the new facility had to be carried out and phased to ensure the existing transfer facility operations were not interrupted. The work involved the construction of a reinforced concrete slab and foundations with built in methane mitigation measures. Installation of pre-cast concrete retaining structures as waste separation walls, a new two lane access road with car parking and overflow area, skip storage areas and offices.There was a 22-week contract period to include the installation and commissioning of electrical and mechanical sorting and bailing machinery.
